APPLES FOR STUDENTS!!

Strack & Van Til will be helping local schools by providing Free Education Equipment during this school year.

It’s easy to participate.

Collect your receipts from Strack & Van Til and submit them to a local participating school.  Ask your family and friends to save their receipts as well so that your school can maximize the points that they earn.  Every dollar spent earns a point towards earning educational equipment.  Receipts need to be dated from September 1, 2019 through March 2, 2020.  Receipts are due by March 13, 2020.

Educational Equipment

Schools will be able to select Free Education Equipment from the Awards Catalog.  Other questions?

Customers can visit a Strack & Van Til location for further details.  Or visit http://www.aftssvt.com/.

ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL

2020 ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL

Please Make Your Gift to the 2020 Annual Catholic Appeal Come, follow me… and heal our world Many families in our parish will be receiving the Annual Catholic Appeal request mailing from Cardinal Cupich. On behalf of those served by the ministries, parishes, and schools who receive funding from the Appeal, we thank you for your gifts. Please return your response as soon as possible.

The Annual Catholic Appeal offers a wonderful opportunity to answer Jesus’ call to “Come, follow me… and heal our world.”

In addition to providing for ministries and services throughout the archdiocese, the Appeal also funds services that are of great help here in our parish.

As we contemplate God’s many gifts to us, we should also reflect on our gratitude. Your financial support for the work of our parish, our archdiocese, and the Church throughout the world is one way to express this gratitude. Please give generously to the 2020 Annual Catholic Appeal.

MUSIC MINISTRY

TAIZE PRAYER - SPRING 2020

What does Taizé mean?! Named after a community in France, this prayer style has gained popularity throughout the world. It involves simple music that is repetitive and easy to learn, scripture readings, and a time of silence for personal prayer. We at Annunciata often use other music as well. We usually have a specific theme and generally last under an hour. Please consider joining us for these prayers! They are unique and spiritual. For more information, talk to Tim at the piano or to a choir member.

CUB SCOUT PACK 773

The Scouting program at Annunciata  is more than just an activity for our youth to learn about the outdoors. Scouting provides fun, fellowship, and training to our youth as well as youth in our community. It emphasizes honesty, self-reliance, and respect. The Scout Law says that a "Scout is Reverent" and Scouts of all ages promise to do their "Duty to God". These values strengthen youth character in their family, community and faith. Through a year-round program, it affects character, citizenship, and personal fitness. The success of  Scouting depends on our volunteers, who serve in a variety of leadership roles so that our young people may benefit from our Scouting ministry.

Cub Scout Pack 773 holds food drives several times a year and the collections are donated to the St. Vincent DePaul Pantry at Annunciata. This year the scouts held a sock drive with their donation of 100 pairs of socks and underwear going to homeless veterans and a hat and glove drive for a shelter.  The Scouts  sponsor the flag retirement service along with the Knights of Columbus. Cub Scout Pack 773 organize and operate  the games for kids during Annunciata Fest with proceeds being donated directly back to Annunciata as a thank you for the use of the facilities. Pack 773 are boys between the ages of Kindergarten and 5th grade who meet most every Friday evening in the Annunciata Parish Hall.

Bereavement Ministry

Bereavement Ministry

Annunciata Bereavement Ministry has been assisting grieving families since 1992.  The present leadership team of Judith Harkenrider and Eleanore Ulaszek, both Secular Servites, and Sister Ann Marie Caporale, OSM, are now inviting other interested persons to assume the Leadership Role of this very important ministry.  If you are interested in serving in this ministry, please contact Fr. Jose or call the Rectory.

Jim Betkowski, Director and Owner of Elmwood Funeral Home, works hand in hand with the Team Leaders.  Over the years, he has generously supplied the Bereavement books containing helpful, inspiring stories to guide bereaved persons through their pain, which eventually leads to acceptance.  Jim helps coordinate the Memorial Masses, for which he supplies the candles and refreshments.  Everyone who attends our Bereavement sessions and Memorial masses has experienced the benefit of healing in some way.

The present Team invites you to attend any of the upcoming sessions: Feb. 2, 9, 16, 23 and March 1 & 8, 2020, in the Rectory meeting room from 2:00 to 3:30 PM, to see how the Team ministers to the Bereaved and helps them through their grief.  Also, is you are thinking of taking on this ministry, you can attend the next Memorial Mass on Monday, March 9, 2020 at 7 PM.

Please prayerfully consider joining this very important, healing ministry. Hopefully we can have new Team Leaders in place by the second series of 6 sessions which will begin on Septemeber 27, 2020.

Thank you.

Sr. Ann Marie Caporale, OSM
