The Annunciata CCD program is need of teachers and teacher’s aides for the upcoming school year. Classes are held every Tuesday from 3:30 until 5PM. Training will be provided. Please prayerfully consider whether you can join your parish in educating our youth about their Catholic faith. This is also an excellent opportunity for college students preparing to become teachers to gain some practical classroom experience. Please call the rectory if you are able to join the program.

SERVITE SECULAR ORDER

“A Servant of Mary”
One of the hallmarks of a member of the Secular Order is that he/she professes to be a Servant of Mary. Therefore we promote devotion to Our Lady in our own lives and the lives of others and we strive to learn more about her. A servant strives to do what his Lady wants — and Mary is quite clear in pointing us to her Son and saying “Do whatever He tells you.” Our dedicated service to Jesus and Mary brings us to a greater devotion to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and devotions to Mary. If you feel that you would like to deepen your own devotion to Mary, think about joining the Servite Secular Order. Please come to our monthly meeting usually held on the second Monday of the month. Or contact Ted Hudon (our president), Fr. Conrad, or any other member of the Secular Order. We hope to start a formal formation program for new candidates in September, but we like them to experience the life of the Secular Order for a few months before officially committing themselves to the formation program.

NEW CHOIR MEMBERS

Do you find yourself singing in the shower? Do you sing along with the radio in the car? Maybe you’d enjoy being in a choir! Annunciata’s Music Ministry is still accepting NEW CHOIR MEMBERS!!! We’d really appreciate having more men in the group, but anyone who is interested in singing is welcome. We also welcome high school aged singers to join. (Younger singers are asked to inquire about a children’s choir we are recruiting for, but if that group doesn’t materialize, kids can join this parish choir). If your child will be four years old by September 1, 2010, he/she is eligible for our Pre-Kindergarten Program.
If you child will be five years old by September 1, 2010, he/she is eligible for our Kindergarten Program.
If your child will be six years old by September 1, 2010, he/she is eligible for our First Grade.

For admission of a Pre-School, Kindergarten, First Grade or Transfer student, parent/guardian may call the school office for more information. When an appointment is established, please present the following:
An official copy of the child’s Birth Certificate
Baptismal Certificate
Social Security Card
Record of immunization in compliance with local and State of Illinois health requirements
Current dental and physical examination records
Copy of the last Report Card (if applicable)
Copy of the latest Standardized Testing results (if applicable)

“RESURRECTION CHOIR”

The Music Ministry Office is forming an official “Resurrection Choir” to sing for funerals. If you have mornings free and would like to minister in a special way, consider attending funerals to sing from the piano area. There would be NO rehearsals! We’d arrive 15-20 minutes before a funeral to review the music. Many parishes have this type of choir and is popular with seniors, retirees and others who have mornings free. Call or see Tim (organist) for more information at the piano after a Mass or at the parish office - 773/221-1040; ext. 24.

Several local citizens have recently been victims of various con games. Beware of the following:
People who want to share large amounts of money with you.
Foreigners who state they don’t trust the American banking system.
Anyone who asks you to keep their money for them.
Foreigners who are asking for assistance in locating a relative’s home.
People who ask you to show money/valuables in “good faith”.
Remember:
If approached by someone who shows or claims to have found a large sum of money or needs assistance in locating relatives:
Tell them to call the police.
Leave the area and call 911 with a description of the offender(s) and a location.
Never withdraw money for a stranger.
A police officer will never ask for money to investigate a crime.
Never allow a stranger to accompany you to your home or to the bank to withdraw money.
Never give out your personal information to strangers.
If something sounds too good to be true, IT IS!!!!!

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul needs you to donate your old automobile! From classic and antique autos to salvage automobiles, from RV’s, boats and golf carts, your donated vehicle can earn you a tax deduction, and it will help us make a difference in the lives of others.
The Society will arrange for the vehicle, and the title and keys to be picked up. Donors will receive a receipt for the amount the vehicle is sold for. Your donation can help our volunteers provide emergency assistance with rent, utilities, transportation, food, clothing and furniture to help a neighbor in need get through a crisis.

CLEAN YOU HANDS

Stop the spread of germs that make you and others sick!

The most important thing you can do to keep from getting sick is to wash your hands often!

Wash hands vigorously with soap and water for 20 seconds. Need a timer? Imagine singing “Happy Birthday” to a friend.

Dry your hands with a paper towel. Use your paper towel to turn off the faucet and open the door.

OR use an alcohol-based gel and rub hands vigorously until dry.

Wash your hands before and after eating, grooming or anything else that involves hand-to-face contact.

Hand washing also reduces the risk of spreading infection from one person to another.

Always wash your hands after coughing or sneezing, or after touching surfaces that may have been contaminated by someone else who is ill.

If you’re sick, stay home so your colleagues don’t catch what you’ve got.

Please remember that according to a new federal law when you or a family member is hospitalized you must now tell the hospital you want your church notified when being admitted. In that way we can include the person’s name on the list for prayers at the Sunday masses. It will also help us in scheduling a visit from one of the ministers of care or parish staff members. Only those patients giving the hospital explicit permission to notify his or her church will be available to clergy/ministers of care. Any homebound parishioners who would like to receive communion please call the rectory and leave your name, address and phone number.
If there are any elderly or home-bound parishioners who would like to receive Holy Eucharist or Anointing of the Sick, please call the rectory and leave your name, phone number and address. Thank you for your cooperation.

Annunciata Family & School is still participating in a paper recycling program! We are working with ABITIBI Consolidated Recycling Division. A large green and yellow bin is located next to the St. Vincent de Paul bins. Our profits are determined by the weight of the paper collected, the heavier the bins the more we make. We ask everyone to remember to drop off your paper items in the bins as often as possible. PAPER ONLY! You can drop off NEWSPAPERS, MAGAZINES, CATALOGS, JUNK MAIL, BOOKS (hard covers removed), SHREDDED PAPER (contained in any type of plastic or paper bag), COPY PAPER, COMPUTER PAPER, ENVELOPES, FOLDERS, ETC. It is okay if paper is stapled, clipped or binded. NO PLASTIC, GLASS, CARDBOARD, or TELEPHONE BOOKS, please! Annunciata thanks you for your support and participation.
